Kingbirds
Tyrannus tyrannus

The sound of young birds cheeping for food led us to these three fledgling kingbirds in a tree. One of the parents hovered nearby, but didn't approach the young birds while we were watching.

Kingbirds are flycatchers: They catch their food (flying insects) on the wing. Their latin name indicates the ferocity with which they defend their territories, from other species as well as from other kingbirds
