          Animal Tracks and Other Signs
A Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation Family Program
In the left photo the children are learning to "read" paper
animal tracks by looking at size, shape, and distance apart. Susan Coolidge
(left of center, facing camera) and Janet Kovner (to right of Susan)
played games with the group and led other indoor activities. Outside,
looking for animal signs, we found tracks and "middens", piles
of broken acorn shells left in a place where a rodent such as a squirrel
liked to eat. The group in the photo on the right is playing a game
          of "predator-prey".
