          Plankton Survey at Black's Nook
Squizzle Plekavich, Fresh Pond volunteer and Friends group member, does
monthly plankton surveys on Black's Nook and Little Fresh Pond. In these
photos he has chopped through a foot of ice on Black's Nook (shown in
the photo on the right) and in the left photo is shown pulling his plankton
net out of the water after submerging it. Algae (tiny plants) and zooplankton
(tiny animals) are collected on a small jar at the bottom of the net.
Squizzle takes these samples home and identifies the organisms under
          a microscope.
          We post Squizzle's MONTHLY
          SURVEYS on this website.
